Measure your anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels with our Future Fertility Blood Test and gain insights into your ovarian reserve and future fertility potential.

Why choose this test?

Our AMH Blood Test is ideal if you are considering starting a family and want to understand your fertility potential. AMH is a hormone produced by the cells in your ovarian follicles, and the test can give you an indication of ovarian egg reserve. By measuring your AMH levels, you can get an idea of your ovarian reserve and how much time you may have to conceive naturally or plan for fertility treatment options.

This test is also useful if you have previously undergone cancer treatment, as some treatments can affect your ovarian function and decrease your egg reserve. AMH testing can help you understand whether fertility preservation techniques such as egg freezing may be appropriate for you.

This test is suitable for a finger prick sample at home, with our partner clinics at Superdrug across the UK. Alternatively, you can choose to have one of our nurses or your own healthcare professional take your venous sample in the comfort of your own home. Results are normally available within 2 working days from receipt of your sample at our laboratory and delivered directly to you through our secure online patient portal.

What's included in this test?

AMH

Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is a hormone produced by the ovaries in women and can be used to indicate the ovarian reserve, which is the number of eggs remaining in the ovaries. AMH is produced by the follicles that contain the eggs within the ovary, and levels can indicate how high or low a woman's ovarian reserve is. However, AMH is not routinely measured in men, and it may only be used by specialist fertility clinics to assess sperm production.

Sampling special instructions

To ensure accurate results for your anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) Blood Test, please adhere to the instructions contained within your test kit. If you are using hormonal contraception, it is recommended to temporarily discontinue its use and switch to barrier contraception.

This will help obtain more precise and reliable results. If you decide to stop taking the pill, wait until your menstrual cycle has returned to its normal pattern before undergoing the AMH test. While AMH levels show minimal fluctuations throughout the menstrual cycle, taking the test at any point will provide valid results. However, for consistent tracking over time, individuals with regular periods may consider scheduling the test between days two and five of their cycle. Remember not to consume biotin supplements for at least two days before the test, and discuss any concerns or instructions regarding biotin intake with your doctor if it has been prescribed. Following these guidelines will help ensure accurate and informative AMH test results.
