Step Two of the perimenopause blood test measures progesterone during the luteal phase of your cycle indicating whether or not you have ovulated. While this test is normally taken on day 21 of your cycle (for those with a textbook 28 day cycle) the day in which to take the test will vary depending on your cycle length. The best day to take this test is 7 days prior to the start of your period. If your period is irregular you can test every 7 days until to onset of your period.
Biomarker Included
β Progesterone indicates whether ovulation has occurred and evaluates the health of your luteal phase.
This test along with the Step One Perimenopause Blood TestΒ provides a clear insight into whether or not you are in perimenopause.
Choose to carry out your own sample at home with a finger prick blood test, or attend one for our partner clinics for a venous draw.

Sampling special instructions
Prepare for your Progesterone Blood Test by following the instructions included in your test kit. It is also recommended to schedule your test at a specific time during your menstrual cycle. Typically, progesterone levels are measured around day 21 of a 28-day menstrual cycle, which corresponds to the peak of progesterone production in a natural menstrual cycle. If you are taking hormonal contraceptives or undergoing hormone replacement therapy, your healthcare provider may provide specific instructions regarding the timing of the test. It is important to follow these instructions to ensure accurate interpretation of your progesterone levels.
