PSA-total
PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen is a protein secreted by the prostate gland into the bloodstream. Elevated PSA levels can be an indicator of prostate cancer, but PSA test results alone are not sufficient for a prostate cancer diagnosis as benign prostate conditions can also cause PSA levels to rise (false positives). Additionally, a false negative may occur when PSA levels are normal despite the presence of prostate cancer.
