Beyond a standard panel
We test multiple connected systems rather than relying on one or two popular markers in isolation. A single marker read alone is the most common way a result gets misunderstood.
About IMULAB
IMULAB is a UK performance blood testing company for athletes, active people and high performers. We combine comprehensive laboratory panels, doctor-reviewed commentary and performance context, so that instead of a list of numbers you get a picture you can act on. Standard testing is designed to find illness. We read the same markers through a performance lens.
Why we exist
A laboratory reference range describes a population, not a person. It is built to answer one question well: is this result likely to indicate illness. That question matters, and the NHS answers it within the resources it has. It is simply a different question from the one an athlete is asking.
IMULAB was built to make blood data more useful to that second question. We look across the connected systems that influence oxygen transport, energy, recovery, metabolic health, hormones, inflammation and long-term resilience.
We keep the laboratory reference ranges and add relevant performance context on top. The aim is not to diagnose from one number, but to help you understand the wider pattern and track what changes over time.
What makes IMULAB different
We test multiple connected systems rather than relying on one or two popular markers in isolation. A single marker read alone is the most common way a result gets misunderstood.
Laboratory ranges remain central, with added context for training, recovery, nutrition and long-term performance. Where the evidence is mixed, we say so rather than overstating it.
Results are reviewed by a doctor and explained in clear, measured language. If something needs medical attention, you are told plainly and pointed to your GP.
A baseline is the start. Retesting shows whether the changes you make are moving the markers you are working on. The trend carries more information than any single reading.
The Performance Baseline panel
The Performance Baseline covers the major systems that influence oxygen delivery, energy, recovery, hormone function, metabolic health and longer-term cardiovascular and organ health. Every marker below is interpreted as part of the wider pattern, not in isolation.
The reported marker set can vary slightly where a calculated value is not available, a sample cannot be processed, or the laboratory method changes. The product page confirms the current panel and collection requirements.
Our point of view
Do not guess at what you can measure.
Training data shows what happened on the outside. Blood testing adds context from the inside.
From sample to action
Start with the Performance Baseline, or choose a focused test for a particular question.
Use the collection option shown with your test, at home or through a clinic or nurse.
Receive laboratory results with clear commentary and doctor review.
Retest the relevant markers to see whether what you changed is making a measurable difference.
Giving your sample
Collection options vary by test, and the product page confirms which apply. Some tests, including the Performance Baseline, need a venous draw rather than a finger-prick sample.
Book an appointment at a Superdrug health clinic and have your venous sample taken by a trained phlebotomist.
A nurse from our UK-wide network comes to you, at home or at work, anywhere in the UK.
For tests that support it, collect the sample yourself and return it by post using the kit provided.
If you already work with a clinician, physiotherapist or team doctor who can draw blood, they can take the sample.
Highland roots. UK-wide reach.
IMULAB has its roots in the Scottish Highlands and serves customers across the UK. We work with individuals, athletes, coaches and organisations who want a clearer view of what is happening beneath the surface.
That includes strength, endurance, team sport, combat sport, and people simply trying to feel and function better.
Our strength range includes a flagship panel built in collaboration with the Stoltman Brothers and designed around the demands of high-level strength sport.

Performance interpretation only means something if the clinical and scientific work underneath it is sound. IMULAB is governed by practising GPs who review every result, and by an advisory board covering scientific research, laboratory practice, medicine and regulation.

Practising doctors who review your results and provide the clinical commentary that accompanies your report. Where a finding needs medical attention, this is where it is identified and where you are told to see your own GP.
The board sets the standard IMULAB works to. Every claim we make about a marker has to be traceable to primary research, and where the evidence is genuinely mixed we say so rather than rounding it up into a promise.
Trust the process
Useful testing depends on more than the number of biomarkers. It requires appropriate sampling, laboratory processing, responsible interpretation, and clear boundaries around what a blood test can and cannot establish.
Samples are analysed using the collection, handling and laboratory method appropriate to the selected panel.
Tests include commentary from a doctor, with important findings explained in context.
Performance commentary is grounded in laboratory ranges and peer-reviewed evidence rather than unsupported promises.
No single result tells the whole story. Where a finding or symptom needs further investigation, we say so and point you to your GP.
About IMULAB
IMULAB is a UK blood testing company focused on wellbeing and performance. We offer comprehensive and focused tests with laboratory results, clear commentary and doctor review where included with the selected test.
Performance blood testing looks at biomarkers that add context to energy, recovery, oxygen transport, nutrient status, hormones, inflammation, muscle stress, glucose regulation and wider health. It does not replace medical diagnosis, but it can establish a clearer baseline and identify areas worth tracking.
IMULAB is used by athletes, active people, coaches and high performers, as well as anyone who wants a more detailed view of their wellbeing. You do not need to be an elite athlete to benefit from understanding your blood markers.
Standard testing is often designed to investigate symptoms or identify disease. IMULAB offers broader performance-focused panels and explains how connected biomarkers may relate to training, recovery and wellbeing, while retaining the laboratory reference range and appropriate medical boundaries.
Doctor commentary is included with many IMULAB tests, including the Performance Baseline. The relevant product page confirms exactly what is included with each panel.
IMULAB serves customers across the United Kingdom. Collection options vary by test and can include an at-home finger-prick sample, an appointment at a Superdrug health clinic, a visit from our UK-wide mobile nurse network, or a venous sample taken by your own healthcare professional.
For a broad performance and wellbeing overview, the Performance Baseline is the main starting point. It assesses eleven connected areas of physiology influencing energy, recovery and performance. Focused tests are available for specific questions and for follow-up testing.
